Both had been helping to care for the more than 300 dogs and cats at the no-kill refuge run by Crowle. Authorities raided the refuge and arrested Crowle on charges of animal cruelty. Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara said she was not taking adequate care of the animals in her charge.
